Renaissance Farm
Not many pubs can say that they rear their own animals.
We’re lucky, we can.
Provenance is important to us at Renaissance Pubs. We really care about where our produce comes from, so to ensure you enjoy the very best we have teamed up with our favourite farmer, Jamie and Locks Drove Farm in Hampshire to produce the finest, free-range meat.
We started small. We wanted to make sure we got it right. Eighteen months on and all our chickens come from Jamie. They have happy lives and total freedom to roam the farm before being tucked up in comfy sheds. We’ve successfully raised pigs too including Kune Kune, Tamworth and our current mix of Gloucester Old Spot and Saddleback Cross. The pigs live in a two and a half acre wood, sleep in straw bedded huts and enjoy a diet of surplus Abel and Cole organic fruit and vegetables, so they are very well cared for too.
Sustainability is important to us, as is nose-to tail eating, so we always make sure our breeding programme constantly evolves and we use all of the animal in our cooking – from tasty pig’s head terrine to crispy pork belly - we don’t waste a thing.
We wanted cows as well for our very popular burgers. They currently reside nearby in Berkshire. We have two Belted Galloways and two Dexters who will be adding to their brood in the Spring.
As our farm continues to grow, we will continue to update you, so watch this space for the latest news. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy our fantastic produce and our commitment to traceability.
